This report explores the current patterns of private sector engagement in  disaster risk reduction (DRR) in West Africa, providing an analysis of the motives, modes and challenges. It also examines future opportunities that could shape the landscape for enhanced private sector engagement in DRR in the region, drawing upon lessons learnt from outside West Africa. In so doing, it aims to support the Division for Disaster Risk Reduction at the ECOWAS Commission on its work stream, the Development of a Framework to Sensitise Private Sector Investment on DRR in West Africa.
