“The humanitarian community of 2010 must reinvent itself if hundreds of thousands of lives are to be saved in more complex and diverse disasters threatening human kind in the near future,” said Dr. Kent. His warning was broadcast just a month after the Haiti earthquake and he said the worst affects of Haiti could have been avoided if the humanitarian community as a whole was geared up to take a long-term perspective."
