HFP’s Programme Development: Communications, Resourcing and Capacity
To ensure that HFP has the strategic focus and the necessary human and financial resources to effectively fulfil its objectives and has the capacity that it promotes to others and is needed to successfully execute this work plan.
1. Funding:
HFP will continue to work towards both diversifying funding sources and oprtimising the levels of funding to meet its stated objectives and outcomes. This will include the earmarking of sufficient organisational time to focus on funding and involve specific tasks including the finalisation of a corporate panel, the development of a medium-long term funding strategy, the diversification of bilateral funding sources and closer collaboration with a range of partners in joint-funding initiatives.
2. Communications:
HFP’s success in meeting its stated objectives is dependent on the effective dissemination of findings and outcomes. As such, communications will continue to be an important priority. HFP will ensure that its investment in communications is strategic and mutually reinforces the strengths of the programme as a whole. This will include ensuring that the website, newsletter and other communications tools are accessible, cost effective and provide added value for a range of stakeholders. HFP will also explore closer collaboration with ReliefWeb and other strategic communications partners and carry out periodic communications reviews/ strategy development.
3. Team development:
HFP has and is likely to continue to have limited human capacity to implement an ambitious programme of work. As such, the organisation will ensure that sufficient time is allocated to support staff and ensure that individual team members are performing to their capability. This will include regular, fortnightly team meetings and periodic ‘away days’ to revise strategic planning, as well as moving toward more structured staff objectives/work plans and more regular supervision to support achievement of objectives.
4. Programme Development:
HFP encourages organisations with whom it works to be more reflective and engage in longer-term speculation on the ‘what might be’s. HFP will make space within its own programme of work to ensure that it continues to consider longer-term scenarios and speculate on how it can adapt and respond its own organisational structures and outputs to best address a rapidly changing context.
