The Humanitarian Futures Programme (HFP) believes that science and technology can directly reduce vulnerability to a range of disasters – both for existing threats and increasingly complex future crises. To achieve this, the extent to which science informs disaster prevention, preparedness and response needs to be improved, both in terms of understanding emerging threats and building the capacity, knowledge and expertise of those with humanitarian responsibilities.
