Business Can Do More to Boost Humanitarian Action
The private sector should be more pre-emptive and take a longer-term view of its role as a humanitarian actor. The conclusion is one of a raft of recommendations in a report just published by HFP on how commercial-humanitarian engagement could benefit humanitarian action in the Horn of Africa Crisis.
The report shows trends and themes which highlight what co-author, Joanne Burke, calls, “The immense potential for commercial actors to contribute to humanitarian action.”
She says humanitarian organisations and commercial partners need to prepare now for future crises rather than wait for the crises to hit.
